The following is a testimonial sent to me by e-mail from Patrick McNutt describing the trip he took with me this summer in Port Mansfield. He fished hard and was one of the best clients I have ever had on my boat:
"Reflecting back on the fishing trip on the way home from Port Mansfield to San Antonio I realized that we accomplished the fishing scenario in which I had contemplated the weeks prior to the trip. That is to be on the water prior to day break in mild wind conditions either wading or drifting a flat throwing tops or soft plastics to get a feel for the mornings bite. Then in the 9-10 o’clock hour move to a flat after the sun came up and sight cast with a fly rod to redfish foraging for bait across the flats but in our case it turned out to be large schools of black drum that would be our quarry.
You had asked throughout the morning for my opinion of what I would like to do. My response was literally open ended. I knew what that was but I wanted to see if the scenario would unfold as I had anticipated. There are not many times that an idea comes to fruition. In this case the scenario had played out as surmised. When I suggested that we return to the dock for the day my day of fishing had been fully satisfied. But even more satisfying was returning home to my family, cooking fresh fried fish, drinking a cold beer and watching my son Nick grab that list piece of fish off the serving tray.
